There is nothing wrong with taking someone out for a nice meal.

The problem is borrowing money because you cannot afford the restaurant you have chosen.

If you want to impress someone, choose a place that fits your budget. A thoughtful meal does not need to be extremely expensive.

Anyone who genuinely values you should not want you to damage your finances just to impress them for one evening.
